Ohimè is a restaurant, pucceria and café in the heart of the City of Sassi, where you can find the perfect combination of Salento culinary tradition and the exaltation of Lucanian products of excellence.

It offers numerous specialties in the name of gourmet street food, focusing on the authenticity of the raw materials and offering only the best to its customers.
In its warm internal room you can also taste first courses and second courses of high quality, which vary according to the seasonality of the products. You can create, together with the customer, customized menus for every occasion, and a home delivery service is available.

The business was born in 2021 from the idea of Alessandro and Salvatore, passionate professionals strongly tied to their Salento origins, who decided to accompany the splendid Matera setting.

The Restaurant

Our internal room is warm and welcoming, with a particular design. Although it is a place that focuses in particular on Gourmet Street Food, thanks to the experience of our chef at an international level, here you can always enjoy tasty and never predictable first and second courses. We prepare different ones every day and we can also agree on the organization of complete lunches and dinners with personalized menus, even for private events. We can manage intolerances of all types, including those to gluten and lactose. We have no architectural barriers. Take-Away and home delivery services are available.

Raw Materials

Tradition and excellence:
For us, quality is everything!

We are tied to tradition, but we love to experiment with modern cooking techniques and create new combinations, thanks to our Specials that we often propose and that you can also see on our Social Media.
In our preparations we use only local raw materials: for us, there is no compromise on quality and we choose only the best! Nothing comes from large-scale distribution, on the contrary we select only local products, preferring Km 0. Even the sauces that accompany dishes and pucce are all prepared in our kitchen.
As for meat, we source from local farmers and butchers.
The dairy products come from a Matera farmhouse that brings us fresh cheeses every day; the same goes for the fish and vegetables, which we buy from the greengrocer around the corner!
More than 95% of the raw materials do not travel more than 10 km before arriving in the kitchen of the chef who, with cooking techniques, even innovative, preserves the nutritional properties of the food.

Appetizers and Tastings

Another strong point is certainly our meat and/or fish tastings. The courses include our now recognizable crostoni with porchetta or with octopus cooked at low temperature (artisanal products) and other combinations that we look for in every season to tease your palate in a different way than usual. Even the vegetables in turmeric-flavored batter, the mixed fried food and our cutting boards are designed to make even the poorest ingredients of our wonderful lands, Puglia and Basilicata, unique.

The Salads

We also serve a wide variety of salads accompanied by homemade bread. With various cold cuts and cheeses, grilled vegetables, tuna, salmon and more, accompanied by dried fruit and sauces produced by us. Find the origin of each ingredient in our menu! materana.

Beers and Wines

We offer a wide selection of craft beers from Salento, from traditional recipes to the most pungent flavors that lend themselves to surprising pairings.
Our selection of bubbles and Salento wines is not missing: from Primitivo to Negroamaro, the varieties that produce the most loved reds and rosés of the region.

The Coffee

A cup of pure pleasure, without the caffeine effect. Valentino is a blend of 100% Arabica coffee from the regions of Minas Gerais and Cerrado, in Brazil, roasted by hand and naturally decaffeinated with water according to the Swiss Water Decaf process.

Pastries

We also produce the typical Salento pasticciotti.
From shortcrust pastry to creams, they are produced daily in the three classic versions: citrus-flavoured custard, cream and chocolate, cream and black cherry.
Ideal to end a meal or for a tasty breakfast.

The Puccia

Our puccia salentina is a bread made from re-milled semolina, round and hand-worked, as per tradition!
The dough rises exclusively thanks to the mother yeast and is absolutely free of preservatives!
Calling it just "bread", however, would be reductive. Typically light and crunchy, it lends itself to any type of filling, from the simplest to the most elaborate, enhancing the fresh flavors of land and sea, which remain the undisputed protagonists of this true dish.
The categories we have thought of for the filling are various:
